Direct Sat TV Proudly Announces the Best of Blog Awards

The Best of Blog Awards are a first of their type as they highlight websites and bloggers that bring television and entertainment content to the web and mobile technologies. From blogs, to online television, to iPhone apps, these awards attempt to celebrate the fusion of television and technology, featuring 29 categories ranging from best blog posts depicting a supporting actor to best TV Online Game. The awards also highlight the next generation of television, by championing the best College Student Television programs in the country.

The BoB Awards will receive nominations until June 1, at which point voting will be open to the public. Winners in each category will be announced December 1, 2009 and a final, overall winner, will be announced in late December. Winners will receive their share of thousands of dollars in awards; the exact amount will be announced over the summer. All awards not collected by nominees who we are unable to contact will be donated to charity.

Local Company Hiring Workers

Despite what is proving to be a daunting economy for many companies, there are actually businesses looking to expand their workforce.

An insides sales associate at Trident Marketing in Southern Pines, Antares Jackson knows he has more than a job, he also has security.

"It means a lot," Jackson said.

Jackson said he knows it's an opportunity because he's seen what this economy is capable of.

"I was working in the mortgage business when I got hired here, and you know the mortgage business kind of took a fall," Jackson said.

Jackson is one of Trident Marketing's most recent hires and he'll be joined by at least 40 more according to David Lord, General Manager of Direct Sat TV at Trident Marketing in Southern Pines.

"Sales, information technology, marketing, customer service, accounting, so finance jobs," Lord said.

Jobs with benefits, he said, that pay anywhere from $30,000 to near six figures. Lord said the company is able to hire because it was conservative.

"We saw the pains of the economy coming," Lord said.

Lord said the company, which markets and re-sells top satellite TV, Internet, and security systems, is growing thanks to new business launches and bringing outsourcing in.

Trident Marketing is holding a career fair on January 31 to help fill the jobs. It will be held from noon until 4 p.m. at 340 Commerce Avenue, Suite 16 in Southern Pines, NC.

"For me personally it feels good to be able to hire people who are looking for jobs, "Lord said.

And good fortune isn't just calling on Trident Marketing. Moore County is also hiring, said County Manager Cary McSwain.

"We're hiring any position that may be vacant, that is core and critical to our mission like a paramedic," McSwain said.

McSwain said some job vacancies are being delayed as part of a budget strategy but not frozen. He said planning and a diverse local economy are helping the county from falling too far into the red.

One of Moore County's top employers continues to expand

(SOUTHERN PINES, N.C.) Trident Marketing announced today its subsidiary, Direct Sat TV (DST), is now the #2 dealer for DIRECTV Inc., the nation's leading satellite television service provider with more than 16 million customers in the U.S.

DST began 2006 in the seventh place spot out of approximately 4,000 dealers, based on the number of completed sales in 2005. "We were able to rise substantially this year because we are aggressively testing new direct response media and successfully reaching niche markets," said Steve Baldelli, Trident Marketing president.

Trident Marketing is also one of Moore County's largest employers with 281 associates most of whom are located in its efficiently-run call center and corporate offices located at the company's Southern Pines headquarters. Direct Sat TV's business includes identifying potential customers, selling services, and installing customers for DIRECTV.

"We had a fantastic second quarter," Baldelli continued. "On our peak days, we sent over 1,700 calls to our sales floor which resulted in 13,000 new DIRECTV customers. Recently, DIRECTV U.S. announced 128,000 net subscriber additions in the second quarter.

DST projects $30 million in sales this year, an increase of $10 million over its record-breaking 2006 sales total. Baldelli also credits cross-selling between other Trident Marketing companies and referral programs as factors to its success.

The foundation of the company is Travel Resorts of American (TRA) which was established in 1986. TRA has over 7,000 members and operates two private RV resorts, one in Jackson Springs, N.C. and another in Gettysburg, Pa. DST began marketing unique portable satellite reception equipment to Recreational Vehicle owners, including TRA members.

"We have recently been given the go ahead by DIRCTV to enter the commercial market and offer satellite service to businesses," Baldelli continued. "Being a Commercial Dealer will give us additional opportunities for DST growth," he said.

Trident Marketing also plans to launch an affordable membership club for RV owners which offers resort camping at over 1,000 public and private campgrounds in the U.S. and Canada for as little as $8.00 per night. Baldelli indicated other new businesses are currently being explored which allow the company to take advantage of its call center, marketing, and customer service capabilities.

As a result of Trident Marketing's success, the company is seeking additional employees and expanding from its current location at 340 Commerce Avenue. Trident Marketing purchased The Commons shopping center, located off U.S. 1 North at Poplar Street, and surrounding acreage. The company has recently begun construction and renovations on the 18 acre site. Long term, the company will consolidate operations at the new location and expand into a "campus style" facility with a number of both retail and office buildings.

Trident Marketing and its employees are involved with several non-profit and volunteer organizations in North Carolina. The company is known for its popular Haunted Forest staged every Halloween to raise money for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. The company also sponsors a U-6 team in the Sandhills Youth Soccer League.

Trident Marketing employees contribute volunteer labor and money to the local Habitat for Humanity and organize an annual food drive to benefit the local food bank. TRIDENT MARKETING COMPLETES SUCCESSFUL FOOD DRIVE FOR LOCAL CHARITIES

Southern Pines, 1/16/07 - Trident Marketing, a Southern Pines-based company, held it's 2007 Kick Off Party Saturday, January 13th at The Fair Barn in Pinehurst. A highlight for the company's founder, Steve Baldelli, was the company's large contribution of food to The Food Bank of Eastern and Central North Carolina. The roughly 200 local employees collected over 1500 items, including canned goods, baby food and dry goods. The company has gladly matched the contribution of its employees with a donation of an additional 1500 cans. This was the company's first annual food drive. The Food Bank of Eastern and Central North Carolina, with this donation, will service the Interfaith Food Panty, Bethesda Presbyterian Church, St. Anthony's Church, Sandhills Moore Coalition, along with over 50 local agencies. John Lenzi of the Food Bank stated that the donation was 2653 pounds, the most from any one local organization.

Trident Marketing announced today it is teaming up with the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) to benefit breast cancer awareness through its subsidiary, Direct Sat TV (DST). DST is the #2 dealer for DIRECTV Inc., the nation's leading satellite television service provider with more than 16 million customers in the U.S.

Through September 30, 2008, for every new customer who contacts DST through its websites or toll-free 800 numbers to purchase and activate DIRECTV service, DST will make a $50.00 donation to the NBCF. For customers who respond to DST print ads or inserts, DST will make a $25.00 donation when DIRECTV service is activated.

Southern Pines, North Carolina - October 23, 2007. Travel Resorts of Ameica has made a $20,000 contribution to the local chapter of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. The funds are earmarked specifically for research funding.

Travel Resorts of America, a division of Trident Marketing, hosts its annual Haunted Forest every October, where 100% of the proceeds, along with additional company funds, are donated to this worthwhile organization. Hundreds of locals and tourists visit the Haunted Forest which is created on the grounds of their Sycamore Lodge property in Jackson Springs. Kim Frye, activities director, orchestrates the entire event with the help of dozens of employees and volunteers. "We strive to make it bigger and better each time since many of our visitors come every year. The more folks we guide through the forest, the more money we can donate." This year's Haunted Forest will be open Friday, October 26th and Saturday, October 27th from 7:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m.

"We strongly believe in giving back and are encouraged by the research and work done by the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society," says Steve Baldelli, owner of Trident Marketing. To date, the company has contributed over $29,000 to the Society. "We are thrilled and honored to be receiving this sizable gift from Travel Resorts of America. Their generosity will support local patient services and research in support of our relentless pursuit for a cure," says Tiffany Armstrong, Deputy Executive Director.

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society is the world's largest voluntary health organization dedicated to funding blood cancer research, education, and patient services. The Society's mission: Cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families. The Society is funding more than $70 million each year in research, including nearly $8 million in Eastern North Carolina at Duke University and UNC Chapel Hill.
