Reservoir Park

Whether you’re seeking the solitude of an easy walk around the lake, biking the many miles found in the Green Way Trail system, kayaking or canoeing the lake, you’ll find many reasons to love this park.

Sit back, take it easy, and listen to the sounds of nature at its best! This 165-acre site is home to a 95-acre lake. Nature trails, running and hiking trails, fishing, and boating are some of the activities that can be enjoyed. Two covered picnic shelters with grills and picnic tables are available.

For an easy run, loop around the Reservoir Park Lake on a soft gravel path underneath a canopy of long leaf pine, oak and hickory trees with several boardwalks and side routes to make your run a little longer (if you want). Run the loop either clockwise or counter-clockwise. If you are looking for something longer try the Longleaf Reservoir Lake Loop at 3.5 miles, or add a few out-and-back trails for up to a seven mile run.

Take a nature walk to see interesting points and lake views along the way with small signs listing the different tree and plant specimens found in the area. The lake was built in 1926 as a water supply for the town of Southern Pines. In 1986 it was dedicated as a park and 95 adjoining acres were set aside by the Southern Pines Recreation and Parks Department as green space.

Bathrooms are available and open seasonally. Dogs are allowed but several signs will remind you to keep them on a leash.

Reservoir Park is located on 300 Reservoir Park Road, Southern Pines, NC 28387.

The park is open dawn to dusk, every day, unless otherwise posted.
